Susana Pous / MICOMPAÑIA: MONDO (CU)
Storslagent danseteater fra Cuba! La deg overvelde av denne estetiske og emosjonelle kjærlighetshistorien fra andre siden av verden.
What does it mean to be human? We live in a world where an overwhelming flow of information, increasing dehumanization, and superficiality drain our lives instead of filling them.
Award-winning choreographer Susana Pous takes audiences on a search for essence with Mondo. The piece reflects on human values, what truly matters, and what remains when the external and superficial are stripped away.
“Mondo” is not a word commonly used in Cuba. A search in the Spanish dictionary shows that the adjective mondo refers to something that is pure, unadorned, and stripped bare.
MICOMPAÑIA is a Cuban contemporary dance company specializing in transforming contemporary social issues into art. It was founded in Havana in 1988 and, in recent years, has been led by Susana Pous.
Susana Pous strives for perfection in everything she does and has a keen eye for detail, drawing audiences into a magical space on stage. As one of the most prominent and creative voices in Cuban performing arts, she is particularly recognized for incorporating Cuban culture into her choreographic process.
With works such as What to Expect When You Are Expecting, MalSon, Showroom, and Welcome, she has performed at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Montpellier, Avignon, and Metz festivals in France; the Joyce Theater in New York City; the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston; DANSEncore in Quebec; as well as on tours throughout North and Latin America, Europe, and the Caribbean, and at some of the most prestigious theatres in Cuba.
